Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Keeping Daniels in Game Prior to Significant Injury

Washington Commanders leader Coach Quinn has stated he shares some the fault for a major injury to the squad’s signal-caller, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Situation

Daniels, who had one of the greatest rookie campaigns of all time last season, sustained a dislocated elbow joint in Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks. Although the quarterback passes with his right arm, the issue has placed his season in doubt. The injury was significant enough that the television broadcast did not show replays and several athletes turned away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Leader’s Reaction

Quinn came under scrutiny as many felt Daniels should not have been on the playing surface to begin with. The injury happened in the fourth quarter with the Commanders trailing 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in these situations for clubs to insert their reserve QB to avoid injuries to their first-string player.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, wow, I erred,” he remarked of his choice to keep Daniels in the game. “This is 100% my fault.”

Fallout and Team Outlook

Mariota will be the Commanders’ primary QB going forward, but he will lead a team in turmoil. Following reaching the NFC championship game last season thanks to the rookie’s brilliance, the team have struggled currently. They additionally saw injuries to defensive back Marshon Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a host of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are 3-6 so far, and it would require a massive turnaround for the club to reach the playoffs.
