Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
