19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to push for a third set.
He rescued four early break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
