Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The mission focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Changes
The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Extra Features
Players who finish the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
